Website meeting

Today we had our first meeting about the website. It was very nice to get some feedback on our ideas, and it seemed we could agree on a lot of things.
We have made a prioritylist of what are the most important things, and soon me and Andreas will work out some deadlines for the different projects. So far, this is what we have got:

Things we want to move on immediately-
1.) Updating the calendar so its more flexible and accurate and the "Old" screenings get removed and making the archives visible

2.) Implementing an internet standard webplayer (like flashplayer) so people dont have to download quicktime before viewing videos on the site.

3.) Creating a wikipedia site, a Maysles Cinema Youtube, share images on flickr

4.) Install google analytics

5.) Clean up Code Overall

6.) Develop the membership and donation section (to include paypal for one thing)

7.) Meta tags, figuring out the best place on the site to link to other sites and blogs

Things we want to table for now but move on as well

1.) Updating the cinema section with photos and video from from events. Integrate with a flickr

2.) Audio/video podcasts of Q&A's, summarys of the debates from the screenings, could also work as refreshing news in the news section.

3. making it a more community based website, with a members-section, with discussionboards and the ability to comment on news articles. Is it a possibility to give members some sort of benefits like free tickets?

4.) A section in the descussionboard could be an amateur section where people could share their documentaries in progress and get tips and feedback on their material by other members or people from the Institute.

5.) Enable RSS, so visitors can subscribe to updates on the site (like new posts in discussion forum or news)

6.) Search website option and a sitemap (will help us, visitors and google to get an overview of the website)

At the moment we are limited to what we are allowed to change on the website, because they have a web-designer allready, who needs to know about what and how we are going to change some things, so we are not following the steps completly, but instead work on the most important things that we can do at the moment.

Tomorrow we are going to have a meeting with the web-designer over the phone. I'm looking forward to this, because then we are completly clear about what we shoud do.

Our NYC contact person was visiting later that day, when me and Andreas came back from a run in North Bronx. We talked about how our stay has been so far, and if we satisfied with everything. A good thing we had the meeting earlier that day, because that cleared out a whole lot, so we were more than satisfied.
